Welcome everyone to my first ever blog post! I am currently writing this after Super Bowl 58 and I cannot believe that the San Francisco 49ers lost that game to the Kansas City Chiefs. I was really hoping the 49ers won. Anyways, I had an amazing week of class. Did you know that the first human has received an implant from Neuralink? Neuralink has tested on a variety of animals including pigs, monkeys, and rats. The company received backlash a year or two ago for allegedly killing over 1,500 animals within their testing procedures. Elon Musk announced just a week or so ago to the public that the first ever human has received such procedure. Elon claims he has a high drive for improving humanity and it can be seen by his long hard hours at the Tesla factory and his constant working condition. Musk seems to always be working on something that will better far more people than he could imagine. At the moment he mentioned his current team consisted of about 100 members, but eventually would like to expand it to over 10,000 members. I was flabbergasted when he brought up the idea that he wants the neuralink procedure to be open to anybody that wants it. It seems as though this procedure, depending on its effectiveness and reliability, will be extremely common almost like getting your tonsils removed.

It was great to see Elon set up this presentation where he brought a few of his team members to answer questions the audience or the public may have about Neuralink. Having a big portion of the presentation about asking and answering questions was important to see. I believe that is how these larger companies are able to connect with everyday people and see how these people view a procedure like this. Do they trust it? Are they scared? How long does it last? How long is procedure? All of these are valid questions for people like you and me who Musk has mentioned would be getting the procedure. Now I have a question for you. Would you receive an implant in your head? It might be tempting for a lot of people as Musk said it helps deal with a lot of neurological problems such as depression, anxiety, blindness, paralysis, memory loss, brain damage. etc. I hope this does become a more widespread procedure because it has got me really tempted. Well, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day, and maybe the next time I write to you I will have a chip in my head!
